I hope you have had an enjoyable and restful Fall. This letter is to inform you of some important basketball information. IF YOU PLAN ON PLAYING BASKETBALL FOR DEERING HIGH SCHOOL, you will need to attend a MANDATORY SIGN-UP MEETING WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 2ND 2011 IMMEDIATELY AFTER SCHOOL IN ROOM 307. At this meeting attendance will be taken and important basketball information will be handed out. IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND THIS MEETING, I WILL ASSUME YOU DO NOT PLAN ON PLAYING BASKETBALL FOR DEERING HIGH SCHOOL THIS UP-COMING SEASON. PLEASE READ THIS AND SHARE IT WITH YOUR PARENT/GUARDIAN* Things to discussed and handed out at this meeting:: A. The Code of Conduct Forms and all information sheets must be returned as soon as possible B. Check on Medical status with the Athletic Director. Physicals are valid for 2 years. C. Check on Academic eligibility. If you are in doubt communicate with your teachers. Ineligibility hinders your opportunity to participate. Try-outs will be held November 21th Through November 25th MONDAY NOVEMBER 21: Freshman: 6:30PMpm-8:00PMpm SOPH/ Juniors/ Seniors: 7:15pm- 9:30pm November 22-25TH: Times will be announced at first Tryouts. A NOTE ABOUT TRY-OUTS: 1. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE SPORT, THERE ARE A LIMITED NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE ON EACH TEAM . Teams are often decided by needed position as well as basketball ability. 2 During the try-out period you will be evaluated by the Entire Coaching Staff on the following skills: Physical Skills, Defensive Skills, Rebounding Skills, Attitude, Offensive Concept, Offensive Skills. 3. If you are going to be absent for any portion of the try-out period you must see Coach LeGage immediately. 4. Basketball try-outs will be closed to others, as will all practices throughout the season. Player’s coaches and administrators will be the only people allowed in the gym during practice and tryouts. 5. Please be aware that being on a particular team last season does not automatically place you on a team this season. Quality of play, competition and improvement from one year to the next will be some of the deciding factors for who makes the team. 6. Try-outs are approximately 2 hours in length. Any hidden talent or effort you take home with you will be qualities we don’t know about. |
