It is with great pride that the boysʼ basketball program has decided to honor one of Deeringʼs finest. Brian Gordon, a history teacher, coached basketball and baseball in the Portland community for 18 years. During the late seventies and early eighties, he walked the sidelines as Deeringʼs head basketball coach. In 1981, Brian was appointed Athletic Director, a position he held for 12 years. During his first year, he not only was the Athletic Director, but also the head basketball coach, head baseball coach, and taught 5 classes a day. Brian Gordon exemplifies all the qualities on which Deering athletics prides itself. He is hard working, a scholar, and above all, a gentleman. Congratulations to Brian Gordon and all those who receive this award in the future.
